Awa manages qualitative and quantitative projects based in the United States and Internationally. She currently supports research on the use of misoprostol-only medication abortion regimens, the sexual and reproductive health needs and experiences of transgender and nonbinary people, and ongoing projects with the Mobilizing Activists around Medication Abortion (MAMA) Network throughout the African continent. Before joining Ibis, Awa worked as a clinical and operational research intern with Doctors Without Borders. Additionally, she completed an independent research grant through the Fulbright program centered on reproductive coercion. Beyond research, Awa has worked in clinical settings as a medical scribe and volunteer. Awa holds a Master of Public Health from Emory University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Biology and Human Rights.
