Reducing maternal mortality from unsafe abortion

In collaboration with colleagues at the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health at the University of California, San Francisco, we published the results of a modeling exercise which showed that increasing access to misoprostol for abortion induction, particularly where access to safe abortion is restricted, could significantly reduce maternal mortality due to unsafe abortion. We continue to identify ways to share the results of this analysis and use it to increase awareness about the role of safer medication methods for self-induction of abortion.
