Assessing the reproductive health content of nursing education in the US

In this study, we examine the reproductive health content of nursing education in Massachusetts programs. We ask program directors to report on the curricular coverage of seven core areas of reproductive health, including prenatal care and contraception. By comparing three different survey modalities (including mailed surveys and online surveys) our study also addresses a significant methodological question in survey research. The results of this study will be used to inform efforts to improve nursing education and training. We have recently completed the pilot phase of this project, which focused on nursing programs in Massachusetts, and hope to expand this study to nursing programs throughout the US in the near future.
