Marisol “Dottie” Dothard, PhD (she/her/hers) is a biomedical scientist with a passion for using research to improve healthcare for gender diverse individuals. She recently attained her PhD from the University of California, San Diego in Biomedical Sciences, where she advocated for increased biomedical research that aims to elucidate the mechanisms that underlie gender-affirming hormone therapies. Concurrently, Dottie developed expertise in quantitative analysis and bioinformatics, which she is excited to bring to her new role as Associate Research Fellow at Ibis Reproductive Health. She attained her Bachelor of Art from Bard College in Biology and Classical Voice, and went on to become an NIH Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. Dottie then completed a Masters in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, and Biochemistry from Boston University, during which time she was awarded the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship (NSF GRFP). Outside of research, Dottie enjoys classic literature, Pilates, and scary movies.
