Addressing teenage pregnancy in South Africa: Research and policy collaborations for progress

Ibis convenes the National Teenage Pregnancy Partnership (NTPP), a coalition of NGOs, government departments, and university partners that share information, collaborate, and aim to expand efforts to reduce teenage unintended pregnancy in South Africa. This partnership recently launched mmoho, a campaign to change the national discourse around teen pregnancy and increase access to sexual and reproductive health information and services for young people.

A Sotho word meaning together, mmoho targets and involves teenage girls and boys through clear and concise messaging around teenage pregnancy that will promote a rights-based approach to teenage pregnancy and provision of contraceptives. Our initial work on the campaign will be to develop clear and concise messages around teenage pregnancy that will promote a rights-based approach to teenage pregnancy and provision of contraceptives.
